Hardcore bullet hell action and hardcore hentai sex? Talk about two things you wouldn’t think go together. But Lust Academy defies the odds, and embraces being a game geared exclusively towards a hardcore otaku crowd.

If you grew up in early 2000’s anime circles, odds are you have some cursory knowledge of shoot ‘em up games. Lovingly dubbed “shmups” by their fans, these games have roots in ‘80s arcade classics that featured spaceships defending our galaxy from alien invaders. But shmups from the late ‘90s onward weren’t your mommy’s quarter munchers from yesteryear. Contemporary examples would often be dubbed “bullet hell” games for their difficulty, and featured crowded screens of bright, flashing projectiles that only the deftest of players could outmaneuver.

But where does hentai come in? Well, during this renaissance for the genre, it became commonplace for these “bullet hell” shmups to star bright-eyed, perky, and extremely moe heroines. Eventually, you’ll get a chance to pelt their clothes off with your magical powers, and maybe even bring them over to the side of good with… erm, “magical intercourse!” As the game progresses, you’ll unlock completely free sex scenes with over 20 sexy witches that unfurl through Lust Academy’s raunchy epic of a narrative.
