Game Review - House of Sin

Many, many cultures practice polytheism – the belief in many gods. Ancient Greece is one of the most notable examples of this, with a dense and complicated sprawl of theological folklore spun around humanistic gods and goddesses. These deities represent certain ideals, both positive and negative, that give people a certain framework to understand the world with. And of course, because these gods and goddesses represent almost every facet of human desire, there are a great deal of stories preoccupied with them knocking their winged boots and flimsy sandals!

That’s where House of Sin, a new idle clicker from Volcano Games, comes in. If you’ve ever gotten horny doing your Ancient Greece homework, this game will let you live out your wildest, nerdiest fantasies. Whether you’ve wanted to bury your face in the chest of a busty and powerful Valkyrie, or satisfy the beautiful Aphrodite’s notoriously insatiable lust, House of Sin is pure ambrosia for the history geek’s soul.

Luckily, the game is an equally geeky affair in terms of gameplay. House of Sin is a game second and an erotic storytelling sim first. You’ll click your harem of goddesses and upgrade them with special items, sure, and there is a swiping mechanic involved for collecting massive amounts of points. But ultimately, the real draw here are the sex sequences, which unfold in detailed narrative passages that feel ripped right out of an erotic short story. Volcano Games understands that the people turned on the most by the idea of screwing goddesses from dead religions are literature nuts, and if there’s one way to turn them on, it’s with spicy dialogue and delicious descriptions.

(And if you’re not into ancient Greece, great news! There are other world religions and mythologies you’ll eventually unlock… but we won’t spoil those for you here.)

The art keeps up the pace with the writing, too, with a unique style that fuses hentai game CGs with Western ‘toon sensibilities. Hentai fans will definitely feel right at home here, especially with the kinky BDSM and gangbang sequences, but there’s an undeniable Western look to the character designs. It’s a combo that absolutely works, and brings each deity to life with loving attention to detail. None of the goddesses run together or look same-y in the least. There’s something that makes each one stick out, which is super important when you’re designing literal deities. Seducing each goddess as Eros is rewarding and exciting – a sexy combo of great art and effective writing that offers a kink for all occasions.

There are a lot of clickers out there, but where House of Sin differentiates itself is in that effective synthesis of short erotica stories, fun things to tap around on, and exciting art that combines the best parts of hentai and Western porn. Plus, the premise is pretty unconventional and charming, fulfilling a niche we never knew we needed.

House of Sin is available now on browsers, PC, and Android!
